Tennessee HOSA strives to provide academic opportunities for all members. In keeping with that tradition, Tennessee HOSA is once again offering the Tennessee HOSA Academic Award. This academic award is given to a graduating Tennessee HOSA senior who exemplifies professionalism, community service, and a love for the health science careers.

​HOSA Scholarship Applications

Applicants will be evaluated and categorized based on the number of community service hours achieved during the year. The applicants within each level will be evaluated for the top award. Applicants will be asked to submit the following: Counselor Signed Transcript, 1200 word essay (“My HOSA Story”) and all community service hours entered into the HOSA HATS system and verified by the HOSA chapter advisor following the Barbara James Service Award guidelines. 


Laurene McLemore Memorial Scholarship ($3,000)

Qualifications: Barbara James Service Award Guidelines for Gold (250+ approved hours)

The Laurene McLemore Memorial Scholarship is offered to one student who plans on pursuing a career in the health industry.  Ms. McLemore was the longest-standing HOSA state advisor for the State of Tennessee.  She was a member of the inaugural class of the HOSA Hall of Fame in 2016, serving as the HOSA Inc. Board Chairman, and received HOSA's highest honor, Honorary Life Member.  Ms. McLemore believed in the mission of HOSA and the opportunities that Career and Technical Student Organizations provide.  Students applying for the Laurene McLemore Memorial Scholarship must be affiliated members of HOSA, and demonstrate a belief in the mission of the HOSA organization.  One scholarship recipient will be announced at the State Leadership Conference in Chattanooga, TN.


Dare to Create Scholarship ($2,000)
Qualifications: Barbara James Service Award Guidelines for Silver (175 - 249.9 approved hours)

The Dare to Create HOSA Scholarship is offered to one student who plans on pursuing a career in the health industry. Students must be affiliated members of HOSA to apply.  This scholarship will be awarded to the student who best expresses their creativity in promoting the mission of HOSA.  One scholarship recipient will be announced at the State Leadership Conference in Chattanooga, TN.  


Future Health Professional ($1,000)
Qualifications: Barbara James Service Award Guidelines for Bronze (100 - 174.9 approved hours)

The Future Health Professional Scholarship will be awarded to one student who plans to pursue a career in the healthcare industry.  Applicants must be planning to attend a four-year university or college, or a two-year community college.  Students must be affiliated members of HOSA to apply.  The scholarship recipient must demonstrate an active role in their local HOSA chapter. One scholarship will be announced at the State Leadership Conference in Chattanooga, Tn.
