Tennessee HOSA strives to provide academic opportunities for all members. In keeping with that tradition, Tennessee HOSA is once again offering the Tennessee HOSA Academic Award. This academic award is given to a graduating Tennessee HOSA senior who exemplifies professionalism, community service, and a love for the health science careers.
Application Deadline: March 3, 2025 at Midnight CST HOSA Scholarship Applications Applicants will be evaluated and categorized based on the number of community service hours achieved during the year. The applicants within each level will be evaluated for the top award. Applicants will be asked to submit the following: Counselor Signed Transcript, 1200 word essay ("Servant Leadership: My HOSA Experience") and all community service hours entered into the HOSA HATS system and verified by the HOSA chapter advisor following the Barbara James Service Award guidelines. Serve Like Sutton Scholarship (Monetary Amount TBD) Jeremy Sutton was a dedicated advocate for Career and Technical Student Organizations, holding the position of state advisor for Tennessee HOSA and FCCLA. Tragically, Jeremy passed away in August 2024, leaving a lasting legacy of service in the fields of healthcare, education, and community involvement. His unwavering dedication to helping others through his roles as a healthcare professional, educator, mentor, and friend will continue to have a significant impact. The Serve Like Sutton scholarship will be granted to a high school senior who best expresses the values of service and dedication to helping others. Powered By People ($2,000) Qualifications: Barbara James Service Award Guidelines for Silver (175 - 249.9 approved hours) The Dare to Create HOSA Scholarship is offered to one student who plans on pursuing a career in the health industry. Students must be affiliated members of HOSA to apply. This scholarship will be awarded to the student who best expresses their creativity in promoting the mission of HOSA. One scholarship recipient will be announced at the State Leadership Conference in Chattanooga, TN. Future Health Professional ($1,000) Qualifications: Barbara James Service Award Guidelines for Bronze (100 - 174.9 approved hours) The Future Health Professional Scholarship will be awarded to one student who plans to pursue a career in the healthcare industry. Applicants must be planning to attend a four-year university or college, or a two-year community college. Students must be affiliated members of HOSA to apply. The scholarship recipient must demonstrate an active role in their local HOSA chapter. One scholarship will be announced at the State Leadership Conference in Chattanooga, Tn. |
